General rules

Students must be 16 or older to be able to take courses or exams at the Centro de Linguas.

In order to successfully achieve learning goals, the students taking CEFR level courses should have similar skill levels.  To this end,

  • beginning learners should enroll in A1.1 level;
  • learners who have already obtained valid certification for a certain level within the past 3 years* can enroll directly in the level immediately superior to the one they have obtained;
  • learners who don’t know their level, or have some knowledge of the language but don’t have a valid certificate, can take the placement test.

*The level certificates that are admitted for entrance into a course are shown on the following tables: certificates recognized by ACLES.

PLACEMENT TESTS 

In order to be able to take a placement test, you must register for the course you are interested in and pay the corresponding registration fee (15€). You can access the level test on MooVi. Enter your username and password. Your username is your DNI (with the letter) or your passport number. If you’ve forgotten your password, click on “Forgotten your username or password?” where you’ll be asked to write your username or the email address you provided when you registered at the Universidade de Vigo or the Centro de Linguas. Depending on the result of the placement test, you can continue with the enrollment process for the course for which you originally registered or for the course that better suits your level.

OPENING OF GROUPS

The opening of each group is determined by whether or not a minimum number of students have enrolled in that group.

WAITING LISTS

If the number of students attempting to register for a course exceeds the maximum number of students allowed, a waiting list will be established for that course. Any students attempting to register for a course that is full will be assigned a place on the waiting list that reflects the order in which they attempted to register. Once the registration period has ended, students who have been admitted to the course will be given instructions and a deadline to formalize their enrollment. After that, any unfilled places will be given to students on the waiting list.

The Centro de Linguas (centrodelinguas@uvigo.es) will contact students via the email address that they have provided in the PERSONAL INFORMATION section of the PRIVATE AREA when they registered. It is the responsibility of the students to read and respond in a timely manner to the messages sent by the Centro de Linguas.

STEP 1: USER REGISTRATION

If you’ve never registered for a course, click on Register and enter your personal information. Once you’ve finished, you’ll receive an email with your password.

STEP 2: COURSE REGISTRATION

Register for a course by choosing the language you wish to study under the heading Language courses and following the steps indicated there.

After registering for a course, you must provide proof that you have achieved the required level for any course higher than a beginning level. This can be done either by providing a valid certificate or by taking a placement test. After your level has been determined and the registration period has ended, the Centro de Linguas will inform you whether you can continue with the enrollment process and pay the remaining course fee.

If the registration fee for the course or exam is 0€, you can simply send the required documents and continue with the enrollment process without waiting for the Centro de Linguas to contact you.

STEP 3: PAYMENT

You can choose from the following methods to pay:

A. Credit card payment. You’ll go directly to the payment gateway.

B. Direct transfer to Banco Santander, indicating your name and the course in which you are enrolling:

  • IBAN code: ES86 0049 6141 9825 1000 7984

C. Cash deposit in Banco Santander, indicating your name and the course in which you are enrolling:

  • Issuing bank: X011668

If you choose to pay by cash deposit, remember to send a copy of the bank receipt to the private area.

STEP 4: CONFIRMATION

Once you have finished, you will receive an email confirming that the enrollment process has been successfully completed.

Please take note of our refund policy:

  1. If, by no fault of the customer, the course does not take place, the customer will receive a full refund of the enrollment and registration fees.
  2. If the student does not have the required level to be admitted to a course and does not enroll in a different course, she/he will be refunded the enrollment fee but not the registration fee.
  3. In spite of what has been stated in the preceding rules, the Centro de Linguas may refund the enrollment fee in certain exceptional cases that it considers justified. The refund must be requested at least three days before the beginning of the course.  If the request is justified, the Centro de Linguas will keep the 15€ registration fee in order to cover adminstrative expenses.
  4. Refund requests are considered justified in the following circumstances:
    • When the student has signed a employment contract for a job whose schedule conflicts with the schedule of the course or any similar alternative course.  The request should include a copy of the contract.
    • If there has been an accident or illness that makes it impossible for the student to regularly attend the course. Medical documentation justifying the request must be provided.
  5. In no case will the enrollment fee be returned once the course has begun.

CertAcles

CertAcles certificates are recognized by

  • Spanish universities, as members of the CRUE, and by European universities belonging to CercleS. These institutions recognize CertAcles certificates for all qualifying language requirements at the undergraduate and master’s levels, as well as for scholarships, internships, exchange programs, etc.
  • the Spanish autonomous communities of Aragón, Canarias, Castilla León, Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana, Galicia, Madrid, and Murcia for official hiring exams and hiring processes, etc.
  • the Ministry of Defense (BOD 35/122, 24 de junio de 2019).

While the exam has no official expiration date, the receiving institution may establish a time limit for a certificate by its own accord.

Certificates produced by the Centro de Linguas (In-house certificates)

Certificates produced by the Centro de Linguas (In-house certificates) are valid for language requirements at the Universidade de Vigo: scholarships, internships, entrance into master’s programs, exchange programs, etc.

If you are a student at the Universidade de Vigo, attending courses at the Centro de Linguas will help you earn course ECTS credits and hours (30 hours = 1 credit) for your degree. In order to earn an attendance certificate, you must attend a minimum of 85% of the course.  For more information, you should consult the University’s credit recognition policy.

The Universidade de Vigo provides scholarships for students studying languages at the Centro de Linguas. These scholarships are available to students of the la Universidade de Vigo. You can find out more information about the availability of scholarships and the conditions for obtaining them on the University’s scholarships page.

If the Centro de Linguas is made to suspend in-person classes due to changes in guidelines from health authorites, these classes will be moved to an online format.
