The Acles exams, CertAcles, are designed to certify language abilities within the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). They are carried out independently from the courses taught at university language centers. They are officially recognized by the CRUE and CercleS.
What levels can be certified at the Centro de Linguas?
B1 (English and Spanish)
B2 (English and Spanish)
C1 (English)
Who can take the exams?
Anyone aged 16 or over.
What is included in the exam?
The exams measure ability levels in the four basic skill areas: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression, and oral expression.
Does the entire exam take place on one day?
Not necessarily. There is a fixed day for the written exam, but the oral part of the exam can take place on the same day or within a range of days before or after the written portion.
What information is included on the certificate?
The certificates include the CertAcles seal and information about the level obtained and, when necessary, the breakdown of the marks by skill areas.
Where do I register?
Candidates must register on the Centro de Linguas web site.
What mark do I need in order to pass?
Candidates must obtain a 6 out of 10 for the overall mark and a minimum of 5 out of 10 in each of the skill areas.
Does the certificate have an expiration date?
No. However, its ongoing validity may be limited by the receiving institution.
B1 and B2 English CertAcles exams are held twice yearly (in October and May), C1 English CertAcles exams are held once yearly (in May) and B1 and B2 Spanish CertAcles exams are held once yearly (in June).

The Speaking parts of the English CertAcles exams will take place between May 26th and 30th, 2026.
